It's not important to win, it's important to take part...

Teachers and students of the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies of Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (FIIT STU) have several year's experience with simulated robotic soccer within the RoboCup project. The main goal is to promote research in areas of artificial intelligence and informatics, especially our knowledge in the area of multiagent systems.

Very important is the profit from the pedagogical process point of view. Students can meet with robotic soccer on courses like Artificial intelligence or Team project and others. Students are facing an interesting problem, which demands invention as well as use of modern artificial intelligence approaches. Teams of students have the possibility to directly compare their results on a tournament. That encourages the students to even higher effort and better results.

Our faculty organises a tournament in simulated robotical soccer every year. The main goal is to compare the soccer players. At the same time, presentations of teams who take part, provide the possibility to learn more about inovative ideas, used techniques and algorithms.

To win the tournament seems to be the main "visible" achievement, however most important is the effort to make a step beyond the borders of our knowledge. It's not important to win, it's important to take part.
