Motivation One of the most discussed components within semantic web are ontologies. From the dynamics by which today’s web is developing, it is assumed that after semantic web start to appearance this dynamic will continue, if not increase in rate. The challenge of today’s research is to find methods and tools to keep consistency between data and metadata described within these entries, for example in the aforementioned ontology. Results This research deals with design and verification of the solution of identification changes between versions of data content and metadata in context of technology for semantic web. The solution lies in using already existing heuristic methods which were expanded by set of heuristics for data content as well as for the metadata which describe the data. The design also included a simple storage for saving these changes and also an export format based on XML. For identification changes within data content literals were suggested methods to compare texts by expanding and modifying well known "diff" algorithm the way that semantic differences would be recognized on the level of words, sentences, perhaps even the whole texts. Suggested methods were verified by using the web-based application OntoDiff on the JEE platform using the Jena 2 Semantic Framework. Publications
