email:        kvasnicka(at)fiit(·)stuba(·)sk

Lecture:  Thursday, 11-12.40 p. m., lecture room CH11 (ground floor, block A), Faculty of Chemistry, Slovak Technical University.

Goals of lecture

Familiarize PhD students of Chemistry with basic optimization methods (in particular gradient and stochastic methods)

Annotation of lecture:

1.    Basic definitions and theorems of extremes of functions of 1-variable and n-variable.

2.    Optimization methods for 1-variable  functions

3.    Optimization methods for n-variable functions (gradient method and Newton and Raphson method)

4.    Simplex method and its modifications

5.    Genetic algorithm.

6.    Neural networks
